A Hand Puppet for Interactive Cat & Dog Play

We have been working on the next version of our Pupr Pals toy for almost four years. This time, we dug into our cultural heritage and wanted to incorporate it into our product. It's no surprise that if we wanted to create a new animal inspired by Guatemala, it would be a Quetzal.

But when we were thinking about a new Pupr Pals toy, we didn't want it to be exactly like our first but just a new animal. We wanted to explore new ways to play. We also had a lot of customers with cats who wanted a slightly different play style.

So why did it take to long to develop a new version of the toy? It took many iterations, and a spark of creativity to find the best way to make the toy even more fun for both dogs and cats. The key is in the legendary tail.

The result is everything you expect from Nutjob, with many new features.

This flying bird cat wrestling toy puppet gives you a chance to play with your fluffy piranha without getting bite and scratch marks on your hands and arms. And thanks to the bungee tail, it can act as either a feather teaser for cats or a lure for dogs.

It has a built in low volume squeaker hidden in the throat area controllable by your hand, and an extra crinkly tail to stimulate prey drive. If you already have Nutjob, this squeaker will sound slightly different for your pet, so they will know which one is coming. You can wear the plush toy like a glove with protective padding for interactive play. It also has a thick sleeve to keep your arms scratch free. The Pupr Pals hand puppet cat toy can be outlet for stress relief for energetic kitties, or boredom busting exercise. We have also used it to help socialize anxious foster kittens. Pro tip: introduce it slowly like a shy friend meeting your pet.

In order to create Quetzal, we experimented with a lot of new tech. First, we knew it was important to capture the vibrant colors. The chest has bright colors, and the wings are made using a new production method to capture all the color variation. The feathers are also iridescent. The entire feather teaser can be removed and replaced with a treat, thanks to the simple velcro holder we designed.

The tail of the Quetzal is where the magic happens. It's also the part of the toy that took us the longest to design. In the end, it makes for really fun play for dogs and puppies, and cats and kittens of all sizes. Now you are not limited to using the toy as a puppet. You can use it as a flirt toy with dogs for training. To make the toy even MORE high value, you can swap the feather teaser out for a dental chew using the velcro holder. If you do that, there is a high risk of it becoming your dog's favorite toy though! With cats, you can leave the feather teaser on, and use the bungee to play pounce.  With dogs and cats, you can use the wings of the bird to wrestle and flap for interactive play.
